Now that work can be done anywhere, what qualifies as an office?

Steelcase's Dyadic Slice is the two-person version of its Digital Yurt concept: a Corian pod that blocks outside noise and gets brighter when sensors detect hot ideas.

How can you  create the personal feeling of a coffee  shop inside the office? The perfect future model of the office is a place to interact, not to sit in a cubicle all day. The genius of an organization comes out of collaboration.

With wireless access you don't need cubicles to distribute power and data. While the office will still be planned  as a system, the walls will come down and people will move around. Noise  will be the new secondhand smoke.

Consumer desires are being trans ferred to the office and we expect a level of sophistication that rivals home  entertainment technology. That changes the office landscape. Soon we'll be  surrounded by information. The halls will be lined with displays. The ways  we get content and connect with others  will become far more architectural.

Neosho Credenza

This is one of the latest releases from Shimna, a small two-person design team based in Manhattan. Called the Neosho Credenza, the piece features three Corian doors with laser-engraved, three-dimensional art. The designers, Aaron Huston and Michael Lamont, used locally-sourced maple for their prototype shown here, though other hardwood options are available. The design and color of the artwork is customizable as well.
Table Light

Pros: It’s short and squat, but this lamp's stubby looks—matte black shade, oiled oak legs, and aqua cord—grew on us. Changing bulbs is a breeze—just reach in from the top. The design also accommodates LEDs, which are often awkwardly sized. Just keep ’em at 75 watts or under.

Cons: This was our favorite lamp of the group. Too bad it takes four weeks to get. Each one is made by hand in Iacoli & McAllister’s two-person Seattle studio
