Lloyd Wright’s Calori House in Southern California Wants $1.7M
For fans of architect Lloyd Wright, son of Frank Lloyd Wright, Glendale’s Chevy Chase Canyon is a slice of architectural paradise. Take a drive around this Californian neighborhood, and you’ll find several homes designed by the esteemed architect, with the majority being nearly 100 years old.
From the E.R. Lewis House to a home designed in the pre-Columbian style, there’s plenty to see. And if you find you’d rather not leave this architectural enclave, you’re in luck, as one of these Lloyd Wright–designed homes is now on the market.
Set on a .28-acre lot, the Calori House is a striking Spanish Colonial Revival residence, boasting 2,190 square feet. The two-bedroom dwelling was originally commissioned by Dr. E.E. Calori in 1926, who resided in the house for only two years before listing it.
Throughout the following decades, the home continuously found itself back on the market, and eventually started to enter a state of decay from the neglect. Fortunately, an architecture enthusiast stumbled upon the dilapidated property and treated it to a thoughtful restoration in 2016.
Notable aspects of the 1926 residence—which is listed on Glendale’s Historic Register—include barrel ceilings, wrought-iron railings and light fixtures, hardwood floors, as well as a magnesite staircase. Every room of the home (except the three bathrooms) have direct access to the outdoors. Scroll ahead to peek around more of the property, currently listed for $1,695,000.
3021 East Chevy Chase Drive, Glendale, CA 91206 is currently listed for $1,695,000 by Crosby Doe Associates.
