The entrance to home is defined by two Foo dogs, which are feng shui symbols of protection—and these dogs also give the home its name. The board-formed concrete of the main living wing has been left as is, creating a play of constantly changing shadows. Over time, weather will naturally soften these joints, and the look of the home will subtly evolve.
The house draws its name, “Pleats,” from the corrugated metal that wraps the gabled volume, reminiscent of the pleated exterior of the Saguaro cactus.
Once the pivot door is opened, the indoor bathing and showering experience becomes an outdoor experience
A recessed entry welcomes you with a reinterpretation of classic southwestern architectural elements such as vigas and latillas with a woven wood ceiling, from the homeowners own lumber mill
The new 2nd story front addition added an extra en-suite bedroom as well as 2000 square feet of covered patios that extend out towards desert and city views

The great room is highlighted by a rusted metal custom hood at the end of the space, with courtyards on both sides
