Kidsonroof was established in 2005 by Romy Boesveldt (NL 68) and Ilya Yashkin (RUS 67). Together with their 3 kids and their little friends they manage a permanent testlab where new ideas keep coming up. A few weeks per year they go back to an oldfashioned simplicity when spending time in their little shed in the southern French mountains without electricity or running water.
Ilya has been trained as an architural designer (Marchi in Moscow and Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. His designs are ingeniously three dimensional and very associative. Romy takes care of the conceptual development and styling.

A+R is British ex-pat Andy Griffith, a former film editor and self-avowed design junkie, and Rose Apodaca, a pop culture and style journalist and author. In late 2005, the pair opened their tiny shop down the street from their home in the heart of L.A's creative enclave known as Silver Lake, keen on sharing their excitement for great new design with anyone who would listen. They followed up a year later with an online store. In fall 2007, A+R moved the store across town to Abbot Kinney in Venice, a town equally filled with a creative population who embrace the A+R viewpoint. From clocks to carafes, slippers to stuffed toys, baubles to bright lights, the constant is design that charms, functions and inspires.
