Niche Modern was founded in 2003 as an unexpected accident. The founders, Jeremy Pyles and Mary Welch, were designing products for their own lives that satisfied their particular design sensibilities. After other people saw their products and expressed appreciation for their work, the duo founded Niche Modern. The company is known for its distinctive glass pendant lights and other lighting products that are comprised of expertly crafted hand-blown glass. Niche also designs other glassware and home products, including elegant vases and candle holders.
Alpine Modern is a design and lifestyle brand based in Boulder, Colorado. Our story begins in 2013, when we opened the Alpine Modern Shop in downtown Boulder. From there, we dreamed big and created a beautiful quarterly print magazine about architecture, design and elevated living in the mountains around the world. Alpine Modern Issue 01 launched in November of 2014. We opened our first Alpine Modern Café in Boulder in August 2015 with the desire to create a physical space for the community to gather for a new elevated experience. Today, you can also shop thoughtfully curated products from known modern design brands as well as small maker labels at our Alpine Modern online shop at https://www.alpinemodern.com.
Building on the love we received from readers of our printed magazine, we launched Alpine Modern Editorial (alpinemodern.com/editorial) this spring, where we continue to publish "slow content" about incredible cabins and splendid mountain homes, interviews with architects and designers, portraits of makers in the mountains, and musings on walks in the woods and alpine cooking ingredients.
We are sharing with you a selection of Alpine Modern stories and Curations here at Dwell.com.

Meet Modern In Denver magazine. We celebrate modern design and living in Colorado and beyond.
We’re much more than a magazine though. MID is also a platform for discussing and exploring inventive ways of
living that are inspired by modern design and practices.
We think good design can be an integral part of real life. In fact, we’ve seen it. And we want to tell you about it. We find it important to connect the designs we feature to the particulars of our place, our community, and the people in it.
This makes it real, practical and possible for great modern design to become part of your life.
We know you’re a discerning crowd. That’s why we’re committed to publishing more than just pretty pictures.
We bring you interesting, intelligent articles crammed full of qualified resources. We show you how real people create and live in honest-to-goodness modern places around the corner and maybe even right next door.
We spotlight architects, designers, artists and entrepreneurs.
MID also introduces our audience to a worldview of design, architecture and lifestyle. We profile international designs and designers for your inspiration. We report on the latest products and methods introduced at trade shows around the world.
This is done with the desire to influence and enrich our own evolving community.
The best part? You can join, contribute, get involved, network, learn, create, and discuss. It’s a platform.
And it’s a new community.

“Gardens never end and buildings never begin” is how Alden B. Dow F.A.I.A (1904-1983) described his own individual organic design philosophy. His own Home and Studio located in Midland, Michigan, exemplifies how this incredible architect masterfully weaves structure and nature together for the ultimate living environment. Designated a National Historic Landmark in 1989, the Home and Studio continues to engage the imagination and elicits emotional responses in all who experience this powerful statement of Mid-Twentieth Century Modern architecture. Planted into an encompassing pond, the Home and Studio is alive with reflective light, soaring roof lines, diverging angles, brilliant color and the perfect balance of enticement and tranquility. It truly is an “oasis of architecture and inspiration.” Schedule your visit for architectural tours, educational programs, Michigan history and much more.
