D.K. Whitson (Daniel) is a native of western North Carolina, where he operates a furniture design and fabrication studio. The design and build process for any piece that comes out of the studio goes beyond the technical aspects and blurs into the artistic. This philosophy was held by many of Americas finest midcentury studio furniture makers and continues today. A passion for great design, fresh furniture, and pure relationships drives the studio.

Lundberg Design is a San Francisco-based twenty person architectural firm founded by Olle Lundberg in 1987 that does work for private and commercial clients throughout the United States. We specialize in high-end modern design, with no particular emphasis on any particular building type. While the core of our practice is architectural, we remain committed to providing design at many levels and are often involved in product, landscape, graphic, and sculpture design. Our signature style tends to be characterized by sculptural form, simply and elegantly executed, with a firm belief in the importance of the carefully thought out detail.
We also have our own dedicated 4,000 sq. ft. metal fabrication facility for custom design work and experimentation. All of the design work is centered on the qualities of materials – how they can be plied, bent and cut to produce a visual and tactile result. We are a firm that loves the physical qualities of the objects we create.
We are located in the Dogpatch neighborhood of San Francisco, in a 1933 mattress factory building. It is a perfect building for the kind of firm we are – raw concrete walls and exposed timber trusses, with high volumes and enough square footage to house our architectural practice, fabrication shop, and even a work-week apartment for Olle. The practice has always been very diverse – we have designed homes, restaurants, wineries, corporate headquarters, distilleries, hotels, apartment buildings, bars, lobbies, and even San Francisco’s bus shelters. We describe our style as “nature-inspired modernism,” and we strive for elegant, simple solutions in our work. We like materials with substance – wood, stone, steel; materials with heft and texture – really the opposite of veneer. For us the making of architecture is a collaborative act; between ourselves and especially with our clients – while we aim for poetry we also pride ourselves on making buildings that work very, very well.

Kastella is a Montreal based contemporary furniture company dedicated to quality, design and local manufacturing.
Founder and designer Jason Burhop is focused on creating well crafted solid wood pieces made to stand the test of time, physically and aesthetically. We are extremely particular about the materials we use and the traditional techniques we employ. Each piece of furniture is built using certified North American hardwoods and finished by hand. Our skilled team of craftspeople take great pride in the furniture we build.
Gloster’s roots can be traced all the way back to West Africa in 1960, where a band of passionate entrepreneurs and furniture makers took the first steps on a long journey. Today, the same passion, conviction and pride that launched the Gloster brand continues to fuel our business. We may live in a different world than the one occupied by our founders, but one thing remains the same—we are furniture makers whose sole focus is to design and build the world’s best outdoor furniture.
Design Within Reach is the source for smart solutions. Our business started when our founder tried to furnish his apartment with the classics he'd come to appreciate while living in London. What he discovered was that acquiring these clean, simple and well-designed products was neither clean nor simple.
There had to be a better way, so in 1999 we bought 20 containers of product, mailed out a catalog and waited for the phone to ring. (It didn't for 24 hours, until we realized the nighttime answering machine had been accidentally left on.) The rest, as they say, is history. By giving customers access to these items, which are brilliantly conceived, simply executed and consistent with the enduring principles of modernism, we made design within reach.
Visit any of our DWR Studios or Tools for Living stores and you'll never see a “do not touch” sign. We invite you to linger, bring your dog or kids and join us for design events. Continue the experience here, at dwr.com, where you'll find everything we carry, plus additional finishes and styles not shown in our catalogs or Studios. And, of course, you can always call or Instant Message our San Francisco-based office. Whether you experience DWR by Studio, phone or online, you'll receive knowledgeable assistance from people who come from design backgrounds.
We stand behind everything we sell and we're proud to offer you our satisfaction guarantee.
