Las Vegas Market: Vegas Kids
Among floors and floors of showrooms and design exhibits at Las Vegas's World Design Market, we scouted the best in kids' furniture on view at Las Vegas Market's Vegas Kids showcase.
The World Market Center in Las Vegas houses a whole heck of a lot of design. Currently three buildings, the plan is to eventually create more than 12 million square feet of show space spread across eight structures. Deciding where to start before stumbling upon Vegas Kids was more than a little overwhelming.
Shown here is a new, yet-to-be released chair by In and Outdoor, an Ark Group company. The Grown Chair resembles Stokke's Tripp Trapp chair quite closely, save for slightly different design details and material choices. The manufacturers of each, however, are good friends and aware of each other's products, a representative of the Ark Group said.
The Capt'n Sharky line of furniture from the Ark Group is based on the lead character of popular European series by author Jutta Langreuter. While we're not loving the pirate-themed textiles that go along with the furniture, the driftwood aesthetic is arrrr-right with us. Our favorite piece: the stool that, depending on its orientation, is a high seat, low seat, or table.
For parents keen on keeping chemicals away from their newborns, Nook Sleep Systems offers the Pebble Organic mattress, which is made with eucalyptus, organic cotton, organic wool, and natural latex, among a few other components. The water-resistant, washable cover's raised pattern endowed the name and was designed to increase airflow through the mattress. The Pebble Organic isn't inexpensive, however, so as an alternative to the $550 mattress, the company recently released the $295 Pebble Lite, which boasts many of the same organic materials as the Pebble Organic but contains a non-toxic foam core instead of an organic, natural latex middle.
