Japan-based AtMa’s J39.5 is a series of chairs made from reassembled parts of the J39 chair, originally designed by Børge Mogensen. As studio cofounder Ayumi Koyama explained to me, the project all started with a vintage warehouse find. Broken legs or backs are converted into pulp, made into paper, and corded to create new seats.
