As a surf culture blog that’s been shaped by a tight creative team—who also happens to run the Los Angeles-based design studio ITAL/C—Indoek has been steadily visiting and documenting the homes of creative surfers across the globe since they started their Surf Shack series. After countless encounters over the last four years, they’ve culminated their experiences in a book they just launched with Gestalten. Throughout the pages of Surf Shacks, you’ll be welcomed into an eclectic range of surfers’ homes, from Sprinter vans and beach shacks to cottages and midcentury abodes. As graphic designers who are also passionate about surfing, Indoek’s founders Matt Titone and Ron Thompson wanted to celebrate surfers in the creative industry, and show how a home can mean so many different things. Written and illustrated by Titone, he opens the book by saying, "Surfers are not defined by their homes, but rather by the experiences they gather in the water and around the world."
