Sumac Candles (Warosoku) in Daiyo

These candles are beautiful when they’re burned and even when they aren’t. The unique colour lies in the pale wax 100% obtained from sumac trees, also known as ‘haze trees’. Haze trees have been bred in Western Japan specifically for candle making as they burn consistently without excess wax dripping. They also have noticeably large flames due to the washi paper wicks, which is mesmerizing especially when used for meditation.
