The Semi Pendant Light was the first collaborative design from Bonderup & Thorup, and was designed in 1968 while the two men studied architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. The idea developed when they began feeling a need for pure geometric shapes—as many products of the day were defined by more by soft, organic forms. Instead, they focused on sharp, clean lines and circles. Not only is the mouth of the lamp a circle, but the sides are created by placing two circles next to each other, creating a curved shape that hints at a triangle in the negative space between them. The result is a strong, balanced pendant lamp that's made of powder-coated aluminum.
