Pierre Paulin was known for designing sculptural furniture creations, and his Tulip seating series from the 1960s was no exception. According to Paulin, "A chair should be more than simply functional. It should be friendly, fun, and colorful." So is the case with these pieces, which are manufactured in the Netherlands by Artifort and that feature a playful flower-shaped seat in a range of colorful fabrics and leathers. After he designed the original Tulip Armchair and the Little Tulip (shown above), the Tulip Midi—created in 1965—became the missing piece to the collection. You can choose a chrome or powder-coated base, which can either come with a cross-foot or disk-shape design.
