Kastehelmi Plate, Small from Iittala
The technical challenges of glassmaking have always inspired Oiva Toikka. His experiments with drop patterns carved in the glass mold gave rise to a new texture for glass in the 1960s. This resulted in the Kastehelmi (Finnish for dewdrop) pieces with a three-dimensional surface. The Kastehelmi range — playful and subtle, as so much of Toikka's work — has been one of his most popular designs. Originally in production until 1988, Iittala reintroduced the collection in 2010. The Kastehelmi Small Plate is available in a range of color options.
