Bocci 28d Lamp
Based in Vancouver, Bocci prides itself in creating lighting that’s born from material research. Their 28 series resulted from a special fabrication process they invented to manipulate the temperature and direction of airflow into blown glass. After creating a classic glass-blown sphere, they allow it to cool—then create a hot patch on the circumference with a blowtorch. By dropping hot glass into the patch in another color, air is pulled out of the piece. This vacuum effect creates a sphere that’s slightly distorted with a unique interior landscape. Since the 28d Lamp is low in voltage, it can be placed on any table, shelf, or floor. It includes a single sphere that’s wired to a flexible gray crochet memory cable.
