Inspired by the sporadic arrangements of barnacles across rock surfaces, Vancouver-based architect and designer Omer Arbel devised an idiosyncratic production process to create the organic forms featured in the 21 series. Thin sheets of raw porcelain are wrapped around frosted borosilicate glass to create distinctive, natural shapes with each iteration. Crisp light passes the glass trumpet at the interior of the pendant, softening as it meets the transparent porcelain shell. Hung individually or in a cluster, the lights in the 21 series create a stunning installation.
