While known mostly for angular lengths of metal in his designs, by the 1940s Jean Prouve started delving into all-wood furniture. An exquisite example of this period, the Vitra Gueridon Bas Coffee Table features a solid round wood top and three wedge-shaped legs. Metal only makes an understated appearance as a connector between the wood pieces.
