Down the corridor from the boys’ bedrooms is the family room.

Like Felicia Ferrone’s Margot glassware collection, the Dearborn Collection of glassware is designed to take traditional glassware and reinvent it with intricate details. Each piece of the Dearborn collection is made without the use of molds and is comprised of fluted Boroscilicate glass. The champagne flute, wine glass, and water glass are each expertly handcrafted by master glassblowers in the Czech Republic. Each glass in the series is unified by a simple cylindrical shape and intricate fluting.

"We used a couple of piano hinges to allow for the fold-down action," Tim says. "They give you nice clean lines and are really strong. This was important because in researching fold-down desks we found that many of the options available out there look beautiful but are actually pretty rickety when you sit down and really use them like a real desk."

A graduate of the Delft University of Technology, Elise Luttik focused on designs to be produced with a 3-D printer. For Salone, the Amsterdam-based designer worked with a traditional material. The Upside down table is made from ash wood and can be used as either a storage basket, stool, or side table—clever indeed.

Designed by Pat Kim in his Brooklyn studio, the Triangle Dinner Bell is the perfect way to round up the troops for dinner, or delicately interrupt a marathon of video game playing. Reminiscent of traditional, rustic triangles, it is crafted from hand-bent hot-rolled steel, and includes a solid brass striker and an English Bridle leather loop for hanging and holding.

"We used magnets to hold everything closed to keep things looking clean. The first small fold is important, as it acts as a spacer to keep the top of the desk level as it sits on the fold-out supports underneath."

Once a piece of wood has been steamed, Pliessnig has under a minute to bend it to the desired shape before it hardens.

The Funiculí Wall Lamp is an update of a lamp designed in 1979 by Spanish designer Lluís Porqueras, who is renowned for the absolute simplicity of his designs. The name Funiculí comes from the concept of funicular action—moving up and down. Shown in red, the lamp is also available in neutral colors. It is also available as a floor lamp and table lamp.
