The entire bathroom is based on a grid, informed by Brigham’s background in graphic design. The 4” redwood slats form the base measurement; the height of the sink, the bath, and all other features are built in multiples of four. Each piece was designed to either project from or recess back into the wall, continuing seamlessly into the next fixture. Everything from the medicine cabinet to the planters floats off the ground, opening the space.

The Fake-Jacket Journal, also by Russell, comes with two reversible jackets, which allow you to present four different faces to the world depending on your mood.

Disclaim Bolt N.14.6 by BFAMFAPhD BFAMFAPhD is a collaborative that works to address the constrains of rent, debt, and precarity on creative people. In one project (pictured), disclaimed paintings were sewn together and used to make motorcycle jackets. "The culture of making is immense," says Yuzna. "In the work of BFAMFAPhD, we get a sense of the incredible numbers of these 'creative workers': there are over 1.3 million people in the United States who have degrees in the arts—that’s more than doctors, lawyers, and firefighters combined."

This rare copy of the manual was discovered in 2012 in the basement of Pentagram Design's New York City office by Jesse Reed and Hamish Smyth. The two got permission from the MTA to reissue it via Kickstarter.

Available through Kickstarter, the manual will be reissued as a 372-page hardcover.

The manual maps out different sign combinations that stations might use.

In the kitchen, a high, deep shelf keeps items from rattling in transit while magnetized spice jars easily affix to the ceiling. The cabinet knobs are made of rocks, and the full-size range was pulled from a 1950s RV and purchased on Craigslist.

The owner made sure that all of his kitchen essentials had a place, and could be safely stored away in transit.
