The Bigelows were very involved in the design process, having studied up on LEED before even approaching Butler Armsden with rough sketches. The stairway was one such detail of the project that the homeowners had a clear vision for: light wood to match the rest of the interior, deep treads, and a gradual rise to help with accessibility. Across the breezeway, a Flexform chaise, woven chair, and coffee table stand atop Forest Stewardship Council-certified hardwood floors.

It takes approximately four hours of handiwork to weave the chair's seat.

"I grew up sailing on Lake Huron in boats my dad built," Klebba says. "The rope evokes that memory for me. It's polypropylene, the same kind of rope they use for sailing line—it's so strong. The use of a clean, modern, contemporary rope is very much an aesthetic decision as well."

Seemingly spun from some kind of massive loom, these chairs by Raw-Edges Design Studio are experiments in felt and resin.

A version of the chair with a wraparound armrest, called the Captains Chair, will debut at ICFF 2015.

This open-concept Amsterdam loft features soaring 15-foot ceilings, an Eames lounge chair and ottoman, and a Jielde light. Throughout the home, Standard Studio architects Wouter Slot and Jurjen van Hulzen favored raw materials, including concrete, oiled oak, and hot-rolled steel, all of which complemented the original space's industrial feel. Tucked smartly underneath the loft, a compact home office features functional built-in shelving and an Eames DSR chair.

Eric Trine’s Rod + Weave Lounge Chair is at once simple and elaborate. The handmade chair is comprised of a solid hex rod frame that has been powder coated in a variety of colors and natural vegetable oil tanned leather. The leather has been intricately woven into a chair seat and back that is secured with simple metal hardware. The Rod + Weave Lounge Chair is a balanced addition to a living room, den, or office interior.

Chair Necessities The couple’s four Chair One dining chairs by Konstantin Grcic for Magis are among their most prized possessions. They had been given their dining table as a wedding gift but couldn’t afford enough chairs to surround it, so they opted for a wooden bench on one side and the Grcic chairs on the other. By creating a desk out of roof beams, this home office perfectly integrates into an open-plan renovation of a Northern Italian farmhouse.

Konstantin Grcic’s Venus chairs for ClassiCon surround a table by Poliform in the formal dining room. Hill selected the Flos chandelier designed by Marcel Wanders for its "Old World reverence." The sleek fireplace mantel was designed by Hill and cobbled together onsite from three solid slabs of limestone.

The Italian brand Zanotta exhibited the William sofa, a new design for 2015, alongside the Genni chair, the 1935 brainchild of Gabriele Mucchi.

Sculpture will be on display at March until September 6th.

The dining table, made from a single piece of teak, is a little over 13 feet long and was custom made for the space. It can seat up to 24.

In the living room, an Eames lounge chair is matched with a Richard Conover–designed fiberglass chair in similar proportions. A custom coffee table by Asher Israelow com-plements the industrial lighting by Workstead, affixed to walls painted in Farrow and Ball’s Manor House Gray. The sliding doors leading into the home office were fabricated by Markus Bartenschlager.

The designers explain, “These steel windows played an integral part in making the interior feel larger and more open by blurring the boundaries between the interior and exterior.” A grey Halcyon Lake area rug, an oak chair from MAP, and Hans Wenger Wishbone chairs make for a simple, neutral palette.
