A vintage 1950s credenza discovered in Paris supports three works by Aumas and two Sol LeWitt–inspired cubes used in one of his window displays. The daybed is an eBay purchase reupholstered in fabric from Kvadrat and the dark paint is from Dulux Valentine. Aumas found the photographer’s lamp at a Brussels flea market.

Collect 2012 Cabinet Collect 2012 is a distinct little cabinet for your favourite things designed by Sara Larsson. It is far away from any anonymous storage system and is characterised by its beautiful doors in leather. Collect 2012 is a limited edition of 81 cabinets. The cabinet has a fish scale patterned front made in Tärnsjö leather and comes with a signed and numbered metal plate.

Solar power cells on top of the building collect energy that’s used for both water systems and electricity.

The pavilion can be deconstructed and reconstructed easily, and it's engineered to ensure that rainwater will not collect on any surfaces.

Filters purify rainwater that drains from the roof or through the wood-plastic composite deck. A cistern collects the water for indoor use.

Solar panels clip on easily to the steel roof, and rainwater runs off smoothly into collecting barrels. The reflectivity of the material also helps bounce the heat off.

The rain-catchment system next to the outdoor shower collects and disposes of the first five gallons of rainwater to ensure that the cleanest water is diverted into the cistern.

On the ground floor adjacent to the open living and dining room, a tall black bookcase defines the stair, housing the owners’ colourful books and small collectibles.

In the winter, the glass facade collects heat from the southern sun, and in summertime, interior shades/curtains cut 50% of the solar heat gain.

After: The kitchen’s countertops and backsplash are “all those 1950s-30s enamel card tables,” Geoffrey explains. “That was a decision I made early on; it took me a year and a half to collect them all.” The beams were a great surprise; they were hidden away in the ceiling. The appliances are former Consumer Reports test appliances bought at auction, and the ceiling lights are a custom design, intended to look mid-century.
