Japanese design studio Nendo has released a new line of products for the design-savvy pet owner. Designed for the modern interior, the collection includes a dog house and several toys with angles instead of rounded, soft shapes.

Naturally, a collection like this would have to include a toy ball. An array of square holes are optimal for hiding snacks and bouncing around.

These geometric shapes provide various possibilities for playing around. Each piece has a bell inside of it that makes a distinct sound that can be heard when the dog is playing with it.

Designed with the biomorphic form language of 1950s American design in mind, these playful and sleek Turtle coffee tables feature a powder-coated stainless steel top and solid oak legs.

For Gabriel Ramirez and his partner Sarah Mason Williams, following the Sea Ranch rules—local covenants guide new designs—didn’t mean slipping into Sea Ranch clichés. The architects love Cor-Ten steel, with its ruddy and almost organic surface, and they made it the main exterior material, along with board-formed concrete and ipe wood. The Cor-Ten, which quickly turned an autumnal rust in the sea air, and the concrete, with its grain and crannies, mean the house isn’t a pristine box, Ramirez says. His Neutra house “was very crisp and clean,” he says. “This house is more distressed, more wabi-sabi.”

The guesthouse has similar built-ins and is outfitted with a reproduction rotating sconce by Serge Mouille and rugs by Stephanie Odegard.

Designed by the dean of the Woodbury School of Architecture and the head of the University of Oregon’s architecture department, its spaces flow into one another underneath an angled plywood ceiling and illuminate built-in furniture crafted from vertical-grain Douglas fir.

Lassen says the biggest key for designing a small space is to keep things as minimalist as possible. “Don’t try to make anything bigger or build an addition. Just remove all bad architecture and create clean, simple rooms.”

The food bowls are as smart as they are simple. Contour lines are embossed on the inside to indicate how much food or water the pet has consumed. The bowls not only come in three different sizes, but matching plant pots help create a more cohesive space between the products and the interior.

Tanya Aguiñiga Tanya Aguiñiga created the Chiapas stool after working with Mayan weavers in Mexico. "The women create beautiful animals out of hand woven fabrics," Aguiñiga says. "These stools are inspired by the animals and are hand-woven fabric with a wool felt bottom."
