Dekleva Gregorič Arhitekti, along with resident Robert Stroj, designed most of the furnishings in the house, including the speakers, wall cabinet, and dining table. The beanbag pouffes are by Slacker Sack and the Chair-One dining chairs are by Konstantin Grcic for Magis. The stucco used on the walls was custom made from a mixture of white concrete, coral sand, dune sand, and lime.

The designers explain, “These steel windows played an integral part in making the interior feel larger and more open by blurring the boundaries between the interior and exterior.” A grey Halcyon Lake area rug, an oak chair from MAP, and Hans Wenger Wishbone chairs make for a simple, neutral palette. The secret to a successful design collection is showcasing a range that is not limited to a single decade or style. Konstantin Grcic's Chair_One, designed in 2004 and available from Herman Miller, is a stackable staple often seen in contemporary houses, restaurants, and bars.

The prototype for the Officina series of wrought-iron furniture by the Bouroullec Brothers for Magis was unveiled in 2014, but this year the production pieces debuted. "If you compare it to cooking, to play with wrought iron is just like having an incredible fish," Erwan Bouroullec says. "In design, [manufacturing] techniques are like flavors. In the case of wrought iron, you've got a really, really rare flavor."

The couple hand-selected every piece of furniture in the house and perused Craigslist to find the four Verner Panton stacking chairs surrounding a Pure dining table from CB2. The two tubular steel side chairs are from Danish Modern L.A., and the pair purchased Muuto’s Plugged Pendant lamp from A+R. Mays and Campbell received the Molecule Building Set as a gift; it’s available from Ferm Living.

The dining room features 1970s leather-and-brass dining chairs and a table concocted from a brass-and-silver base and a custom lacquered top. The cheerful blue paint enlivening the doorway is from Emery & Cie.

The OGK Lounge Chair was designed in 1962 by Danish architect Ole Gjerløv-Knudsen. The chair is comprised of sustainably harvested beech, which is met with natural jute slip that makes up the seat and chair back. Originally designed for Gjerløv-Knudsen’s son’s camping trip, the chair is designed with portability and easy assembly in mind.

The Gregory Residence is a masterclass example in design. Furnished by renowned New Hope woodworker George Nakashima, this private and rustic home offers ingenious versatility over its 1,644 square feet of space on a 10-acre lot.

Twenty-foot-wide doors from Solar Innovations offer easy access to the deck. “Solar Innovations was the only manufacturer at that time that had a pocket multi-slider with a good ADA threshold,” says architect Erick Mikiten. “They almost look like steel, but are thermally broken aluminum.”

This daybed and lounge chair was originally designed in 1962 by Ole Gjerløv-Khudsen for his son, who was embarking on a camping trip. Comprised of a sustainably harvested soaped beech frame and natural jute, the Portable Daybed and Lounge Chair are easily transported and can be used in indoor and outdoor spaces. This open-concept Amsterdam loft features soaring 15-foot ceilings, an Eames lounge chair and ottoman, and a Jielde light. Throughout the home, Standard Studio architects Wouter Slot and Jurjen van Hulzen favored raw materials, including concrete, oiled oak, and hot-rolled steel, all of which complemented the original space's industrial feel. Tucked smartly underneath the loft, a compact home office features functional built-in shelving and an Eames DSR chair.

A thin layer of hardwood is applied to the flat surfaces, providing the cardboard-constructed furniture with enough durability for everyday use.

Celebrated architect Frank Gehry designed an innovative furniture collection for Heller in 2004. The collection, including this easy chair, is characterized by its striking resemblance to sculpture. Although the pieces are suited for daily use, they also look quite lovely on their own—the sleek surfaces, coupled with the gentle curves and flowing lines, allow the collection to be admired for its beauty, as much as it is utilized for function.

Erwan and Ronan Bouroullec’s new Officina collection for Magis includes chairs, stools, and tables made with wrought-iron frames, marking the brothers’ first experimentation with the material. In this age-old technique, iron is hammered into shape by hand.
