Yield Design Co.’s Copper Photo Bar takes away the hassle of framing photos while creating a distinctive hanging structure. The photo bar can hold a series of photographs, postcards, or other paper mementos, and is hung on the wall with a simple copper nail. Photos are held in place with magnets, making it easy to swap pictures and cards out on a whim.

L.A.'s A+R was among the many cash-and-carry exhibitors at the show.

New York Design Studio Bower creates products that marry traditional woodworking with playful purposes. The Tipsy is made from turned brass and maple, and is structured in a teardrop shape. It can be used as a paperweight, accent, desktop toy, or even as a stress reliever.

Haptic Lab is a Brooklyn design studio that creates quilts, kites, and other textiles. The Deneb Kite is crafted from screen-printed kite fabric in Brooklyn, and is cut and assembled in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The Deneb Kite features Haptic Lab’s signature ten-foot-long patchwork kite tail and includes kite twine and flying instructions.

The Ray Long Serving Board from On Our Table is defined by its geometric shapes and angles. The board is designed to present cheeses, charcuterie, and other small appetizers, and features easy-to-hold beveled edges. The surface of the board is intricately etched, giving the board visual interest.

"The Monogram Modern Home has just enough room for entertaining and functionality, which is what cooking is all about," Christopher says. "The open layout allows for guests to feel comfortable and at ease walking into my so-called 'workspace.'"

The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) set up a lounge with its signature red hue electrifying the show floor.

Dwell Outdoor Takes Center Stage at Dwell on Design This year, for the first time, the ever-popular Dwell Outdoor will live right in the middle of the show floor, immediately viewable at the entrance. Beneath a stylized “rope-art” canopy created by Sausalito-based Shades of Green and outfitted with their myriad trees and plants, the new Dwell Outdoor, sponsored by Blu Homes andLumos Solar, promises to inspire. Populating the 18,000-square-foot-plus space will be full-scale structures from prefab companies like Sett Studio, who is “obsessed with energy efficiency, sustainable building materials, and designing thoughtful space.”

Best Scandinavian retail representation: Los Angeles-based A+R does a brisk business as one of America's leading online retailers for Scandinavian design (Muuto, Normann Copenhagen). They're also a mainstay at Dwell on Design (for good reason!).

Just off an internal courtyard, a mudroom provides a prime place to keep sneakers. Each family member has their own shelf, backlit by windows that illuminate every pair.
