The Workstead Floor Lamp, available in the Dwell store, is designed by Brooklyn duo Stefanie Brechbuehler and Robert Highsmith. It's cast iron, steel, and brass—all a blacksmith could dream of.

ARCO FLOOR LAMP A legendary icon, the Arco lamp designed by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni for FLOS was first released in 1962. A heavy marble base balances and suspends the swooping stem and polished Aluminum dome. To coincide with FLOS and Arco’s fiftieth anniversary, this masterpiece was updated with LED technology, adding high performance to an already impeccable design.

Brass Dog MACK Lamp Made by a friend of the store, these lamps are made from vintage figurines ( based on the Mack truck bulldog vintage hood ornament), which function as touch-sensitive switches. Unique and fun, it’s both classical and quirky.

A couple takes a minimalist approach to their Brooklyn apartment, focusing on supple materials, subtle gradations of color, and custom finishes by local craftsmen. Exposed brick adds plenty of texture to the room.

The Parisian flat that American-born architect Michael Herrman shares with his wife, Cécile, and their 2-year-old daughter, Rose, had been nearly untouched since the 1790s, when it was built. “But I wanted to try and reveal some of its age in a fresh new context,” Herrman said.

Entrance By moving the foot of the stairway away from the front door, Bischoff and his team carved out a transition point from the stoop and sidewalk below, providing a welcome measure of privacy. (Visitors must scale the steps and stand at the door before they can peer in.) The concrete floor tiles were left over from an earlier MADE project. “We didn’t have an equal balance of black and white or even the right sizes,” Bischoff says, “so we made a design moment out of what we had.” Saving on the floor tiles meant that Casale and Crofton could spring for hand-finished wallpaper by Swedish company Sandberg.

Tokyo-born Jonah Takagi combines innovative style and steadfast utility in his design of the MatterMade F/K/A Table Lamp. Initially inspired by a saucepan, the broad shade is made from brass-plated steel and features a luxe shine.
