On his patio are a table and chairs from the 1968 Ozoo collection by Marc Berthier for Roche Bobois.

Often, the text that accompanies the images will provide information that is otherwise unable to be communicated through a photo—the thickness of a mattress, the way a fabric shimmers in sunlight, even suggestions on how to pair the item with other pieces.

The entertainment space adds a pop of color with the Roche Bobois sofa

A far cry from minimalism, the renovated 900-square-foot Paris flat belonging to Nicolas Roche, a scion of the French furniture company Roche Bobois, is decked out with vivid hues and vintage furniture. A 1960s orange lamp by Luxus is suspended over the Warren Platner dining table and chairs. The 1950s rosewood glass cabinet is from Soriano. Pod Lens pendants by Ross Lovegrove for Luceplan hang from the ceiling.

An architect by profession, Roche removed as many partitions as he could when recasting the apartment’s interior, preferring transparency. He custom-made the red room divider from bungee cords.

Server cocktail table by Roberto Tapinassi and Maurizio Manzoni for Roche Bobois Green, bronze, and dark blue panels support the two clear panes of this all-glass piece.

The combination of steel and glass railings with aged oak treads, keeps with the flavor of the original home while introducing consistently sleek elements throughout. Downstairs is where the girls and their friends like to hang out, keeping the upstairs relatively clutter-free. A Scenario Modular sofa from Roche Bobois anchors the combined media room and library.

At the client’s request the kitchen contains neither upper cabinets (Shino can’t reach them) nor an oven (they only used the old one once—to reheat a pizza). A modular Roche Bobois Mah Jong sofa adds a decorative flourish to the living area while maintaining as low a profile as the traditional Japanese furniture.

The metal-topped side table is from Roche’s grandparents’ house and the lamp is vintage Vico Magistretti for Artemide.

The living room features an Equation sofa and Bi-Pod stool, both from Roche Bobois, atop a 1970s Siberian wolf carpet. Through online sleuthing, Roche found the red Boris Tabacoff chair at an Austrian gallery. The chandelier is vintage. Roche’s most-recent acquisitions include the traditional African masks, which he likes for their “aesthetic purity, the beauty of their forms.”

Roche found his suede-covered bed at a Belgian flea market. Roche’s grandfather commissioned the screen, which has a black-and-white maple-leaf motif, in the 1950s.

DZINE Concept did the interior design throughout. The dining room features a Liquid table by Baxter and Charme chairs from Busnelli.

The 82-foot-long pool gets quite a lot of use by Jeff and Millie, and especially by the kids, who are both on the local swim team.

Open enclosures and connections to adjacent living spaces keep the home inviting and airy rather than densely packed—a key feature for an owner of two dogs: Ben, a whippet, and Flynn, an Irish gypsy dog.

Ray sits at the central hearth on the north end of the comfortable sunken living area. From this perspective, you can see how the interior spaces flow into one another, passing one half-level up into the breakfast nook and kitchen and out from there onto the overgrown hillside. The various built-in furnishings have all been there since the house's construction.

In the living room, guests gather on a matching ebony sofa and daybed from Hudson and a pair of Jorge Zalszupin lounge chairs. An Yves Klein coffee table—filled with the artist’s signature International Klein Blue pigment— provides a vivid burst amid otherwise organic tones. The walnut-and-bronze cabinetry is a custom design.

The dining room table is also from Habitat. The oak veneered plywood is from Peter Benson Plywood.

A third-floor courtyard stands in for a backyard and gives Elodie, the couple’s two-year-old daughter, a place to play outdoors. A Hunting chair by Børge Mogensen shares the space with a child’s chair by Tomii Takashi and a vintage Danish coffee table.

Mori’s addition is constructed of steel, concrete, glass, and bluestone veneer. She decided to preserve the ceiling height of the main house (11’6”) and lined the roof with Voltaic solar panels.

In a dining area, Metropolitan chairs from B&B Italia provide seating at a circular Syntaxe table from Roche Bobois.

Resident Richard Kim, who works as the head of design at electric car company Faraday Future, tested his know-how with the creation of his own Los Angeles home, a curvilinear structure clad in Cor-Ten steel and black-stained cedar.

In the great room, the curved ceiling reaches 16 feet. A Roche Bobois sofa faces a double-sided, indoor/outdoor fireplace made of board-formed concrete.

A tub zone lined in redwood connects to the master bedroom, which is furnished with a vintage Sergio Rodrigues lounge chair and Voyage Immobile seats from Roche Bobois.
