Past issues have explored themes like travel and "the unexpected" (pictured here); the next boxes will hold treasures surrounding the idea of "Maker" (featuring collaborators like James Corner Field Operation) and the company's first release geared specifically towards females, with gifts from Le Labo and Marimekko. The charred reclaimed oak on the ceiling continues onto the exterior of a loft space overlooking the dining area. Mod 265 wall lamps by Paolo Rizzatto for Flos illuminate a vintage trestle table that belonged to Claire’s family. The original pine floor boards were stained a chocolate brown.

“I think from the outset when we were talking about the addition, there was this idea that it would be mod and contemporary and spliced into the old house,” says Dean. The thin wood slats that surround the back half of the home bridge divide between old and new, nodding to the existing building’s white wood-trim detailing.
