Architect Charlie Lazor designed this peaceful, lakeside prefab in Ontario, Canada with a Japanese-style bathroom, clad in teak, with a matching tub and sink by Bath in Wood.
Fashion designer Josie and her husband Ken Natori are big fans of traditional Japanese architecture, so when Brooklyn-based practice Tsao & McKown Architects designed their home in Pound Ridge, New York, they used a heavy, exposed-timber structure, and included Japanese-style gardens and landscaping.
Behind her is the greenhouse, where Lynn starts vegetables like lettuce, Swiss chard, and tomatoes. Landscape architect David Hocker defined the sunken fire pit area with Cor-Ten steel.
Beautiful, organic landscape was designed naturally around the trees to overlook a nearby pond.
This Dallas gem is set against a dramatic backdrop and offers breathtaking views from every room.
The entry consists of a wide foyer which opens dramatically into a large living area. The space is flooded with natural light thanks to a wall of glass sliding doors which open onto a patio that leads to an outdoor pool with a distinctly vintage vibe.
A lap pool runs alongside the west facade of a hybrid prefab home in Palm Springs by Sander Architects. “Our version of prefab,” explains architect Whitney Sander, “involves the use of building shells that are the ‘heavy lifting’ parts of any house: main structure, secondary  structure, and (often) building skin.”

In the backyard, Kunigk “montaged” what she admired in the work of John Pawson, Tadao Ando, and Piet Oudolf, the Dutch garden designer who collaborated on landscaping for New York’s High Line. She plans to reconfigure the plantings again with the landscape designer Rina Zweig, who worked on the front yard.
Delighted with the result, they requested additional structures, including a pool house with a dining area that opens to the outdoors. Rising from the edge of the pool deck, a planted overhang shelters a gym and sauna below.
Once unkempt terrain (1), the lot was replanted by Elysian Landscapes. Board-formed concrete walls now hold a lush collection of Bloodgood Japanese maple trees, Canyon Prince wild rye grasses, and Blue Fox Tail agaves. A Spun stool by Heatherwick Studio for Magis joins an outdoor furniture set by Plain Air.
The patio is equipped with IKEA furniture; the previous residents chose the sliders and windows, which are by Sierra Pacific
The portico is used as a living room in Spring and Summer.
A rough board-formed concrete wall hems in the courtyard garden creating an organic looking transition to the wild scrub oak beyond.
When it's retractable glass wall are open, the all-season room becomes a breezeway from the courtyard to the view of the mountains beyond.
From the interior of the courtyard the blue Uintah Mountains can be seen sprawling along the horizon.
The dramatic cantilever provides shade and protection, while leaving views to the lake plentiful.
