204 Living Room Coffee Tables Pendant Lighting Sofa Design Photos And Ideas

Upon entering the home, guests come into a bright and airy, double-height great room. Part of the challenge for the design was to figure out how to make each space feel separate while making the entire home feel cohesive.
The Kelleys furnished the cottage with help from Suzanne’s daughter Betsy Burbank of Betsy Burbank Interiors. Classic modernist icons, such as a Saarinen Womb chair for Knoll, a Herman Miller Eames lounge chair, and an Eileen Grey E1027 side table look at home alongside present-day pieces such as an Encore sofa (which handily folds down into a sleeping surface) from Room & Board and a Doka rug designed and produced by Stephanie Odegard. The Wohlert pendant lights from Louis Poulsen were designed by Vilhelm Wohlert in 1959, but grouped as such, they appear distinctly contemporary.
The Shinomotos have filled their Southern California home with furniture by Taku and pieces by some of the artists and craftspeople whose work they also showcase at their Tortoise shops and showroom. The couple worked with architectural designer Ken Tanaka to remodel the house, once a cramped, two-bedroom rental. A sofa and tables by Taku join Jasper Morrison’s Three Sofa De Luxe sofa for Cappellini. The sliders are by Western Window Systems.
The roundness of the house lends itself perfectly to an open, wallless floor plan.
A view from the second floor. Floor-to-ceiling windows keep the interiors bright and airy, while full height curtains provide protection from the heat of the sun.
The modules’ steel beams are painted Folkstone 6005 by Sherwin-Williams, while the walls are Decorator’s White by Benjamin Moore. Vitsœ shelving by Dieter Rams holds books and curios.
Ray sits at the central hearth on the north end of the comfortable sunken living area. From this perspective, you can see how the interior spaces flow into one another, passing one half-level up into the breakfast nook and kitchen and out from there onto the overgrown hillside. The various built-in furnishings have all been there since the house's construction.
This iconic floor lamp from Serge Mouille alongside the Flow S4 Pendant, designed by Nao Tamura, inspired by the reflections of the Venetian cityscape, are both stylish standouts.
In order to open up the space, Klopf Architecture took out some walls that were supporting beams. Klopf explains, “We used a structural trick by putting a cross-beam on the roof, which you don’t see. The ceiling now has an open, more expansive feeling—more post-and-beam.”
The starbust cedar wall was constructed by local carpenter Nathan Mcconnell.
With original steel-framed windows, beamed ceilings, warm wood-paneled walls, and a gracious floor plan it makes for a wonderful entertaining space.
The living room also offers new lighting from Restoration Hardware, a decorative fireplace, and newly installed wide-plank oak floors.
The large arched windows allow ample natural light to flood the interiors.
The entry foyer features San Felipe tiles from Arto Brick, and the living room has all new windows with beautiful architectural lines.
In keeping with Viks’s design, the living room remains on the second floor. A bright yellow artwork by Ken’ichiro Taniguchi complements the Bend Sofa by Patricia Urquiola for B&B Italia. The Random pendant lights are by Bertjan Pot for Moooi, the Yo-Yo coffee table is by Emanuele Zenere, and the Maltino Rug is by Linie Design. The hardwood flooring is from the Admiration line by Mirage.

Typical of bungalows, the entrance leads straight into the living room.
Designer Melanie Coddington of Coddington Design tranformed the family room into her "Unapologetically Pink Rosé Lounge." Inspired by edginess and fueled by French rosé wine, the lounge is modern, opulent, and without a doubt, unapologetically pink. The lounge revolves around a geometric marble and walnut cocktail table with brass inlaid rings to mimic wine stains. Nearby sits a midcentury-style gondola sofa with custom fabric and a classic American 1950s swivel chair.

Furnished by interior designer Jonna Kivilahti, this compact, two-storey detached Honka Fusion home near lake Saimma in Mikkeli, Finland was inspired by the traditional steeped roof cottages of Denmark.
Designed for maximum flexibility, each of the rooms is capable of multiple uses.
A villa in Leuven, Belgium, has an unusual new roof over its garden extension. Instead of being flat on the underside, the steel structure varies in thickness from about 2 inches to 18 inches (with an 8-inch layer of insulation on top). As the ceiling dips, the floor drops: The living area is four steps below the rest of the room. Fix lights from Lucide hang from above. The Highlands sofa is by Patricia Urquiola.

The rooms were designed to echo the region’s bungalow-style homes with simple midcentury elements. Each of the 13 rooms feature exposed white wood beams and offer private patios with handmade hammocks. Bed frames by Design Within Reach host Casper mattresses where guests can rest their heads after a long day of surf and sun.

In the living room, Samuel painted the exposed wood and stonework to unify the space and let the original texture step forward. (The wood had been painted already by previous owners.) A custom ten-foot sofa sits below the window and the green canvas armchairs are from Urban Outfitters.
