The living room furniture, a combination of custom and retail pieces, is oriented toward the views and TV area. The leather-finished black granite coffee tables were designed as two pieces to break up the scale, and the Siren pendant by David Weeks Studios recalls the mobiles of Alexander Calder.
Books pepper the apartment, but most are housed in two libraries, one of which is dedicated to art and photography. It also features a Palms lounger by Dutch designer Frans Schrofer and the painting Any Number of Preoccupations by Lynette Yiadom-Boakye.

Spencer Greene and his daughter, Anya, go for a dip in their Palo Alto, California, home. The three-inch-thick acrylic pool window allows the parents to monitor their children’s swims from the LC4 chaise longue.
Deau retained original details, like the stone fireplace in the living area and the Jean Prouvé lamp mounted onto it. Vibrant throw pillows by Nathalie Du Pasquier for Hay offset the neutral sofa and armchairs from Habitat and the Moroccan rug. Vintage English occasional and coffee tables stand at the room’s center. Ceramics and objects from Guillaume Bardet, Jonathan Adler, and Ferm Living accent the space.

The living room features a vintage credenza by Jens Risom, a Room & Board loveseat, and a CB2 coat rack. By raising a portion of the ceiling in the center of the room, “the idea was to create a big visual door to the inside,” López says.
The quaint living space features a stained-glass window, lofted sleeping platform, vaulted ceilings, and arched-sash windows.

The curving glass and steel wall, designed by Deam and executed by Sand Studios, is a tour de force of engineering and design.
At the client’s request the kitchen contains neither upper cabinets (Shino can’t reach them) nor an oven (they only used the old one once—to reheat a pizza). A modular Roche Bobois Mah Jong sofa adds a decorative flourish to the living area while maintaining as low a profile as the traditional Japanese furniture.

French doors connect the new addition to the home via the dining room. Constructed in three functional zones, the first section features a butler’s pantry, the center segment includes a dining table and chairs and a family room comprises the remaining space. Floor to ceiling screened windows make the space feel as if it were outdoors.

In the living room, we added a dramatic overhead pendant light, re-positioned one of their favorite art pieces, installed new window shades, and reconfigured the layout for a more open flow. For furniture, we were able to re-use the coffee table, and replace the rest of the furnishings with a fresh new look.
The living-dining room replete with a Wells sofa from Room and Board, occupies what was formerly a classroom.
In the living room, an Eames lounge chair 

is matched with a Richard Conover–designed fiberglass chair in similar proportions. A custom coffee table by Asher Israelow com-plements the industrial lighting by Workstead, affixed to walls painted in Farrow and Ball’s Manor House Gray. The sliding doors leading into the home office were fabricated by Markus Bartenschlager.
