A modern cabin in Washington’s Methow Valley has a fireplace with glazing on to opposite sides, so its owners can watch the embers of the fireplace glowing from both indoors and out on the patio.
Built in wood shelving sits below clerestory windows, opposite a large brick fireplace with a sculptural chute.  Expansive windows provide views of the Bay beyond.
Beside the fireplace is a Nexus 21 lift system, which is used to hide the television when it’s off.
The coffee table is from Baxter & Liebchen and the custom felt rug is by Karkula; built-in daybeds by woodworker Rick Bradbury feature cushions by Chelsea Workroom upholstered in vintage Maharam fabric and leather.
The décor was deliberately kept unfussy, down to the cool green French chairs. The patterned chair is upholstered in one of the client’s own distinctive tweed designs.

Salvaged oak parquet flooring was used throughout, laid in a Mondrian-esque grid pattern, rather than the traditional herringbone arrangement. Left with its original patina intact, it lends warmth to the area.
Parts of a modular 345 coffee table, designed by Min | Day’s furniture company, MOD, are dispersed throughout the house, including two pieces in the family room. The rug is from Design Within Reach.
Snowdon calls the design of the entire house a collaborative process with the clients, who actually recycled a good deal of furniture from their previous beach house, such as the coffee table and arm chairs seen here
The setup around the fireplace includes a sister piece in a neutral gray, coffee tables by Thomas Bentzen, and a Visu lounge chair by Mika Tolvanen, all for Muuto.
Sited on a sloping plot in Suffolk County, New York, this cantilevered house takes full advantage of its forest-meets-sea locale. 
Designed, built, and furnished by New York City-based firm Leroy Street Studio, this 5,935-square-foot home was born from the client's request to create a warm and stylish modernist house that would be intimate enough for private family retreats, yet impressive and expansive enough for entertaining large groups.

Subverting the traditional, conservatively cozy British barn conversion, Carl Turner created a getaway in rural Norfolk for himself and his friends to visit, repose, and consider the beauty of agrarian minimalism. Turner reclaimed most of the timber used for the flooring as he renovated buildings in London. He thought his stockpile was big enough for the Ochre Barn, but the scale of the place defeated him. The solution, surprisingly, was eBay, turning up an old mill’s worth of boards.

The interior furnishings are a mix of the clients' Eastern and Western influences, blending craft and modernity.
The formal lounge plays host to Angelucci’s collection of mid-century modern furniture. A pair of Leather Sling chairs by Aussie-born sculptor Clement Meadmore sit under the window; a black Snoopy lamp by Achille Castiglioni for Flos is on the mantle.
The interior of locally milled poplar contrasts with the home’s metal exterior. Thanks to the six-degree pitch of the site, the dining area leads directly to the yard, while the living room ends with a balcony that’s high above the ground.
The 5,700-square-foot getaway features glazed screens surrounding the living and dining areas.
Industrial finishes include Viroc cement fiber panels over the fireplace.

Bayley’s ventless fireplace from Spark Modern Fires keeps the house toasty as he reads in his favorite red armchair, a vintage-store find, in his bedroom.
The open-plan living room was inspired by the couple’s previous residence, a London loft. The paintings are by Dunlop. The louvered floor-to-ceiling windows, ceiling fan, and sliding deck doors usher in sea breezes and encourage good air circulation.
Walnut panels make up the floors and ceiling, in a subtle material nod to the former home’s midcentury provenance. Jack and Ellen lounge on a Thayer Coggin sectional, which is joined by a Barcelona chair by Mies van der Rohe and a coffee table by Brad Ascalon; Chris designed the custom built-in shelving.
