"They wanted a very practical house, with separate zones for kids and adults," said Taugbøl. "Because of the split levels, the experience of the space varies when you walk through it," and ascend the staircase. "The acoustics are also great due to the wood paneling in the ceiling." The Raimond pendent lights are from moooi, and the fireplace seating is IKEA.
Most of the furnishings are from from Globe West.
The roofs of both wings converge at the garden to create a continuous porch around the house.
The dining room sits just off the living room.
Approaching the remodel with a less-is-more philosophy, Downie North did minimal alterations to make the building's existing 6,782-square-feet footprint more efficient and intuitive.
The owners asked for new common spaces with improved connectivity to the back garden and swimming pool.

In the living room, a custom chaise by Shimna and an Archibald Gran Comfort chair by Poltrona Frau surround a custom lacquer coffee table by BenchCraft.The lights, made from recycled cardboard, are by Seattle design studio Graypants.
The drawing room, the couple’s principal entertaining space, contains many highlights of the exhibition, including two Tonico lounge chairs by Sergio Rodrigues; a jacaranda bench by Alberto Reis; a leather-and-rosewood sling chair fabricated by Liceu de Artes e Oficios de São Paulo; and drawings by the contemporary Brazilian artist Paulo Climachauska.
