The kitchen was designed so that the cooktop is in the Caesarstone-wrapped island, which means the cook can enjoy the view while they work. “I love cooking and looking out,” says Michele.
By removing walls and a counter peninsula jutting into the room, interior designer Corine Maggio was able to create enough space for a generous island. The stove wall is a fitting focal point with a hood vent accented in tigerwood and a quartz slab backsplash that helps to tie the space together.
An angled application gives this wood paneling a modern feel.
The team removed the wall between the kitchen and living room, then increased the kitchen’s size by 30 square feet through extending the wall of cabinets towards the dining room and adding an island. The distinctive stools are Phase Design’s Bride’s Veil Bar & Counter Stool.
The kitchen features a porcelain tile backsplash, an island with bar seating, and a waterfall countertop.
Custom cabinetry was designed by RobitailleCurtis, built by Kastella.
Kitchen appliances include a SMEG refrigerator, Bertazzoni Range Oven, and Bosch Dishwasher. The counters are honed white quartz, and the pendant over the island is the Cirrus Float by Edge Lighting.
The kitchen was designed to blend with the open floor plan. The SMEG refrigerator was chosen to feel like a piece of furniture and many of the household items add a sculptural quality.

A built-in Liebherr refrigerator pairs well with the bright white cabinets and concrete floors.
The functional one-wall kitchen is open to the first floor dining and living area.
A bright new kitchen is the highlight of the renovation. The pattern behind the stove call to mind traditional Persian motifs. A row of windows provides a light-filled alternative to a backsplash behind the sink.
