Anna: Koci's Google Glass Photography

Richard Koci Hernandez is a national Emmy award-winning video and multimedia producer, professor of New Media at UCBerkeley and worked as a photojournalist at the San Jose Mercury News for 15 years, so he kind of knows a thing or two about the future of photography. Now-a-days he just puts on his Google Glass and captures some of the most amazing street photography I've ever seen. He creates these diptychs (done in post) with a film noir feel to them, then shares them with us photo freaks via Instagram (@koci_glass). As he told Lightbox, "Street photography with Google Glass feels natural — and the science fiction level is very high."

The late, prolific Japanese-American artist and landscape architect Isamu Noguchi was the subject of photographer Richard Schulman's last black and white photo. Says Schulman, "We were like water and oil in his studio, but when it came time for him to choose from thousands of images for a mini Pace Gallery retrospective, he chose this image. One of my proudest moments." See more of Schulman's photos here. (Pin)

Richard Meier, Jubilee Church (1996)

American architect Richard Meier won a design competition held by the bishop of Rome to create a church for the far suburbs of the Italian capital. Meier’s design recalls ships in a harbor, with three airy sails of self-cleaning concrete fanning out from the main chapel. Most miraculous, perhaps, is that the company that developed the special concrete for this project suggested that the material actually fights pollution and absorbs noxious chemicals in car exhaust.

“White is the most wonderful color because within it you can see all the colors of the rainbow. The whiteness of white is never just white; it is almost always transformed by light and that which is changing; the sky, the clouds, the sun and the moon.”

RICHARD SAPPER ESPRESSO COFFEE MAKER $240.00

The six-cup espresso coffee maker that started it all, Alessi's 9090 was the first object for the home in the company’s history, as well as its first product to be inducted into the Permanent Design Collection at New York’s Museum of Modern Art. It was also the Italian brand’s first "amphibious object": a tool for the kitchen so beautifully designed that it is equally welcome at the table. Crafted in 18/10 stainless steel with a cast iron handle. Made in Italy.
