In the master bedroom, we sourced a canopy bed from Desiron, and a settee from Jonathan Adler. We also reupholstered the client’s existing window treatments, to give the gold curtains a refined, pleated finish.
Guest Bedroom
The home is styled with Bensen furniture in exclusive Raf Simons fabrics, as well as Cloth Studio linens, curtains, and bedding.
This bedroom features a beautifully tiled bathroom.
Guest suites in the livery include cozy living areas and king-size beds that are upholstered in a rich turquoise velvet.

Each bedroom opens to a terrace.
Aside from the master bedroom, there are three additional bedrooms in the house. Gurney and his team used glass throughout to carry light into the home. A Copenhagen nightstand supports a Brazo table lamp in this third-floor guest room.
A timber beamed ceiling adds a rustic touch to the modern master suite.
The large master bedroom on the first level has a large bathroom with a shower and bathtub.
A look inside the cozy bedroom lined in wood veneer. A recessed skylight-inspired lighting feature helps keep the space from feeling too snug.
This custom glass structure by Ilex Construction allows for an abundance of light during the day. At night, Lightolier fixtures on the ceiling illuminate the Ella bed. Sherwin-Williams “Pure White” was painted on all interior walls.
The cabin captures the iconic Finnish aesthetic, which is defined by modern minimalism. Recyclability and sustainability were among the deciding factors behind the selection in furnishings.
The triangular window is made from polycarbonate, which was chosen for safety reasons.
Overlooking stunning views of the archipelago, the one-bedroom building is furnished with two camping beds, a small cooking nook, and other locally procured sustainable furnishings.
The plaster was added to sections where the masonry was compromised.
The bedroom features floor-to-ceiling windows with curtains for privacy.
Bedroom to Library
Parents' Bedroom
Four commodious bedrooms were located on the tree-facing side of the house. "This arrangement also saw that the front door be relocated to create a dramatic reveal through the glass staircase to the valley," notes Hope.
Floor-to-ceiling sliding panels divide the master bedroom from the living room. The sliding wall cladded in cedar is integrated into the casework, and hides the television when not in use.
The Drum table by Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin also has brass and bronze accents. The ebonized oak headboard has upholstered insets of tie-dyed kona cotton.
To the north of the "great room" is a second bedroom, which has a wall of closets and drawers clad in oak millwork.
Natural light fills every room of the bright and airy addition.
While the plush materials and earthy colors in the master bedroom emphasize the rich, wood tones in the room, our designer added curvilinear table lamps to soften the sharp furniture. The result is a masculine, yet comfortable bedroom.
In 2014, a master bedroom and two guest rooms were added, as well as a library that also works as circulation, increasing the square footage of the retreat to 2,400 square feet.
In total, there are four bedrooms in the home.
All of the bedrooms have a spacious, yet midcentury feel.
The master bedroom also features sliding doors out to the patio.

The simple and peaceful serene master bedroom looks out to the rear patio.
Silver vaulted the ceilings, while also incorporating french doors to the patio.
The serene shade of green is echoed in the furniture throughout the home, including the bedroom nightstands.
A Lawson Fenning cane bed, Selig night stands with fabric sling, an antique screen, and an antique barrel chair are in the master chambers.
The standard King Room offers courtyard rooms and TRI-KES wallcovering.
The minimalist interiors are predominantly white with an understated luxe vibe.
Master Bedroom
A dialogue between ancient and contemporary can be seen in the bedroom.
Says homeowner Dentand, "You come here and you sleep well. I think that this is the most relaxing place that I have ever been."
In the principal bedroom, wallpaper from Hygge & West hovers over the George Nelson Thin Edge Bed from Design Within Reach. Horner also added multiple skylights throughout the house to bring in more light.
In the Baltic residence, renters can choose from a private studio or a co-living suite with several private bedrooms and a common space.
A sweeping expanse of glass spans the corner in the master suite, integrating a sense of the outdoors into the bedroom.
Reflecting the client and what is most important to them:  a calm, refined composition that belies its more complex nature – perfectly suited to the writer in residence.

Mural, Mural on the Wall

The home already has a vivid color scheme, but to energize certain areas further, Bestor and Grunbaum added murals to some of the walls. Aside from the vinyl decals in the bathrooms, the stairwell is painted to evoke Grunbaum’s family home in the 1970s. Designer Mina Javid created a faux headboard for the master bedroom. minajavid.com
Furnished with Rakks shelving, a Blu Dot table, and a sofa bed from ABC Carpet & Home, the floor also includes a spacious guest bedroom. A bright-yellow color accent, painted onto the wall in Benjamin Moore’s Sunburst, acts as a subtle, minimalist headboard.

With a nod to 1700s designer Josiah Wedgwood’s jasperware pottery, this headboard is constructed with various moldings and a door. “It’s literal but he made it much larger and grander,” says Azzarito of the striking and unusual headboard. Fun fact: Josiah Wedgwood’s daughter was married to Charles Darwin.
Natasha's love of plants is evident in the cabin, where pops of greenery show up throughout.
