In total, the home includes four bedrooms, all of which benefit from the home's many windows. A leaded glass window above the headboard originally looked down into the living room.
In an opposite corner of the apartment, the master suite offers floor-to-ceiling windows along two sides, as well as direct access to a private section of the terrace. The bright space also includes not one but two full bathrooms.

The decor is a mix of antique and custom pieces.

Stucco was used on the east- and west-facing walls to shield the home from the penetrating sun.
The "Suleiman" room, on the ground floor, nods to African-inspired design through touches like the traditional woven baskets peppering the expansive bookshelves.

The master suite sold the couple on the cabin. “Tucked upstairs, it has soaring A-frame ceilings and a vintage wood-burning fireplace. There’s a roomy balcony that had me daydreaming about cups of cocoa at tree height during the wintertime.” To modernize the space, she added Room & Board furniture, a cozy Saatva Plush Soft mattress (that she raves about), bedding by Parachute Home, and a rug from Coco Carpets to anchor the room. A large, abstract painting by Sabina Yannone carries the color palette through the front of the room.
Both bedrooms are fitted with California-king beds, sizable closets, and en-suite bathrooms.

The master bedroom wallpaper motif is inspired by mosaic tile floors. It evokes a calm elegance and is paired with a coordinating wallpaper, pillows, and a pendant light.
The renovation extended the back of the house to increase the home's square footage. It also added an additional bedroom with an ensuite bath, and the master bedroom received a new walk-in closet and sliding doors leading to the backyard.
The bed is from Four Hands. The bench is from CB2, and the rug is Loren by Jaipur Rugs. To the left of the bed is a West Elm end table and wall-mounted sconce.
The new extension houses the master bedroom, closet, and bath. Barn doors conceal the master bath and closet (not pictured). The bed faces views of the pool while a clerestory window above lets in additional jungle views and daylight.
The clients’ eclectic collection of antiques made for interesting vignettes rich with form and texture. They are integrated along with new pieces, such as the Pirogue bench from Christian Liaigre and a custom nightstand from Meyer Wells.
Moons adorn the walls of the airy bedroom, along with soothing hues for bedtime bliss.

In the master bedroom, we sourced a canopy bed from Desiron, and a settee from Jonathan Adler. We also reupholstered the client’s existing window treatments, to give the gold curtains a refined, pleated finish.
This bedroom features a beautifully tiled bathroom.

Tucked away in the northernmost corner of the house, the master bedroom has a cozy and secluded feel. The steel bed frame from Room & Board is punctuated by two nightstands from West Elm on either end.
While the plush materials and earthy colors in the master bedroom emphasize the rich, wood tones in the room, our designer added curvilinear table lamps to soften the sharp furniture. The result is a masculine, yet comfortable bedroom.
Reflecting the client and what is most important to them:  a calm, refined composition that belies its more complex nature – perfectly suited to the writer in residence.

To minimize waste and reuse workable infrastructure, Aparium kept the original wood beams and steel pipes throughout The Iron Horse. Locally-produced textiles and artwork were also added to provide decorative accents in the rooms.
Off the living room, Samuel uses this den as a second sleeping spot, or "guestroom nook." Crumbling basket-weave texture was covered with painted wood paneling and the headboard is a DIY.
The owners can access the pool in the backyard via sliding doors in the master bedroom.
