In 2014, a master bedroom and two guest rooms were added, as well as a library that also works as circulation, increasing the square footage of the retreat to 2,400 square feet.
The 2152-square-foot house has a master suite, and an additional two bedrooms and one bath for visiting adult children of the homeowners. Bedrooms were deliberately kept smaller and pared back to encourage socializing in the main spaces.
On the upper floor, the peaked roof form is revealed. A built-in headboard provides some separation between the functional spaces within the suite.
The interiors feature a minimal palette of timber and concrete. The bathroom of this bedroom is hidden behind a sliding wall.

The wall in the master bedroom is upholstered in tropical print fabric by Christian Lacroix.
The architects created a principle suite by connecting an adjacent bathroom via pocket doors. A skylight in the bathroom ensures natural light flows throughout.
One of the three bedrooms emotes a comfortable, relaxing feel with plush textiles and bedding. Again, full-height glazing brings the outdoor sunshine in.
The master bedroom is completed with an elegant fireplace and glass surrounds. Large, sliding glass doors open directly onto the outdoor patio.
Built-in millwork provides ample storage in the bedroom spaces.  Danish teak beds with mid-century textiles resemble the original furnishings.
A third module, perpendicular to the main living areas, contains the master bedroom, which is furnished with a bed from Design Within Reach, a rug from Crate and Barrel, and a watercolor by Marfa artist Nick Terry. The saddle leather chair is by local furniture maker Garza Marfa.
