Evening at Copperwood. The 20-acre lot enjoys visits from deer, eagles, hawk, blue heron, fox, and other wildlife.
The front elevation of the home remained modest in appearance with a simple vertical addition, maintaining the typical Austin bungalow aesthetic.
1930s style modernist influences can be seen in this studio flat, where a cabinet is used to separate the open plan living, sleeping and storage zones. Carefully selected loose furniture such as Stephen Kenn denim upholstered sofa and a midcentury chest by Charlotte Perriand expands the scale of the interior making it feel roomier than it’s actual size.
In Cindy’s home, is a shelf inspired by the fretwork often found in traditional Chinese wooden and bamboo furniture.  JAAK combined the study area with the dining, using a single large table that can be used as either a desk of dinner table.

An original 1920's restored Goodin Woodburning Stove anchors the cozy living space.

This compact London apartment by architects Silvia Ullmayer and Allan Sylvester and joiner Roger Hynam has a fully retractable mechanical skylight that opens and closes automatically when its sensors detect rain or excessive wind.
By building upward and outward, YH2 Architecture added to a former lumberman’s shed without harming the nearby trees. The new 1,300-square-foot home is tucked away in southeastern Quebec.
Max likes to do screenings for friends: “The first time I hosted I showed Planet Earth. Next up is Koyaanisqatsi: Life Out of Balance, a 1982 experimental film by Godfrey Reggio with music by Philip Glass.”
The all-white kitchen is open to the upper level. One tread of the stairs extends out to become a countertop and the live-edge dining room table is surrounded by blue and grey chairs that are part of a palette inspired by the beach setting.
After moving the wall between the kitchen and living areas, Kate and Arthur were able to configure an L-shaped--which was critical in adding a full height refrigerator, full height pantry, and an 18” dishwasher. They opted for a minimalist black and white aesthetic, with dark black-green cabinets, and a dark soapstone counter.
