La Shed visually expands the house's modest size by replacing the previous timber-beamed ceiling with a white ceiling that leaves the space open. The wood floor, too, extends from hall to living room to bedroom to bath without pausing to recognize thresholds. Local slate, used in the entryway, continues through the door and all the way to the driveway, drawing the visitor (and the outdoors) inside.
