This project was a renovation to an existing timber frame house in Whistler, B.C. The home had gone through many unfortunate additions and renovations and was in a state of disrepair. It was determined that the original structure and its inherent beauty were worth saving. instead of tearing down and starting new construction, it was decided to enhance and maintain the original home. The building was stripped down to its original structure and a new covered patio and covered entrance canopy were created. The addition of a new staircase was key to having the internal spaces connect in an intelligent way. A 2-storey space, nicknamed "the jewel," was added to the back of the existing building connecting the kitchen and dining to the top floor living room.
