West Coast Pied A Terre

Half Moon Bay, California
Location
  • Half Moon Bay, California
  • An existing client who frequently travels the country for work, asked us to help renovate her existing Half Moon Bay home. As work and travel can be hectic, the goal here was to create a clean, calm, zen interior, that reflected the vibe of the beach town it is in.

The guest bathroom is more of a minimal, white space, with wood accents to bring in the elements of nature. The vanity was purchased from Kohler, but the mirror and cabinetry above was custom designed and built to coordinate with the vanity below, and add storage. The wall tile, although white, has a unique geometric pattern to it which created more interest in the bright space.

The home office area was meant to be a refuge and the place where our client would spend a lot of time both working and relaxing. It needed to be bright and airy, modern, but comfortable.
The main focal point of the room is a custom designed and built wall unit, with desk and cabinet mounted television. The 2 tone contrast of the unit adds depth to the wall. There is also a built-in under counter refrigerator and file drawers for storage.

The home office area was meant to be a refuge and the place where our client would spend a lot of time both working and relaxing. It needed to be bright and airy, modern, but comfortable. We used neutral grey paint on the walls, bold chevron curtains, and bespoke whitewash wood floors. The orange and bronze accents throughout were brought in in order to contrast against the black, white and grey main elements of the space. Two modern end tables on either side of the sofa with Zebra wood tops, also offer a touch of warmth and contrast. Photo 3 of West Coast Pied A Terre modern home

In the master bathroom, we went for a much more earthy, and rustic look. Using a porcelain slate tile with lots of nice variation in it, we made this the element that connected both the vanity area and the shower room, and used it on the floors as well as the walls. The sink vanity was a custom designed and built unit with a Brown Forest Marble top and lots of storage space! Minimal, white vessel sinks completed the look, and added a more modern touch.

The pocket door was added, and stained to match the vanity area. Moving into the shower and toilet room, the main element here was the highly textured and varied tile. We accented this with a teak floor in the shower, and some rustic, live edge wood shelves above the toilet. Again, we used more modern fixtures and lighting to contrast against the rustic materials.
