For the design of this trendy home in North Vancouver, interior designer Maria DeCotiis wanted to create a space that felt warm and inviting for potential buyers, and one that had plenty of personality.

“We went for a contemporary vibe with cleaner lines and a crisper colour palette,” says Maria. The gorgeous, airy space utilizes soothing colours to give the home a truly relaxed feel. When designing a space, Maria always starts with the kitchen. “Once we decided on grey slab doors for the kitchen, the rest of the house went from there!”

Crisp whites and greys feature throughout the home, and brass was added to the space to add warmth to the cooler tones. With families primarily spending time at home these days, a stylish nook space was added near the window, the perfect place to catch up on work or school. “It creates an ideal home for the computer and helps keep the home organized!” Maria adds.

Her favourite space in the home is the kitchen. “I love how we combined contemporary elements with the more traditional black marble bar backsplash and the brass hardware,” she says, “I don't usually select such a simple light fixture above the island, but in this case, I love the way it adds just the right amount of impact.”
