Designed by Glen Bell of DEX Studio, this striking Silver Lake residence blurs the line between structure and setting. Elevated above the street and wrapped in greenery, the home offers a sense of retreat while remaining fully connected to its environment. Sunlight filters through a sculptural brise-soleil—both functional and ornamental—casting dappled shadows across the custom walnut cabinetry and steel detailing that define the interiors.

Originally featured on the Dwell on Design tour, the 1,906-square-foot main house unfolds across multiple levels, culminating in a top-floor primary suite with its own deck and outdoor shower—an immersive experience in indoor-outdoor living. Every room connects to a 1,875-square-foot wraparound deck, turning circulation into an open-air experience and offering generous space for dining, lounging, and reflection under the trees.

Large sliding glass doors open the living spaces to the landscape, while native plantings reinforce the home’s quiet connection to its hillside site. A detached studio with its own kitchen, bath, and deck provides flexible space for guests, creative work, or extended living. Thoughtfully designed and immaculately executed, 1855 Redcliff is a rare example of architecture that lives as beautifully as it looks.
