The Kalimtzis Residence

Designed for a family who loves to entertain, we transformed this property from unkempt and disassociated outdoor spaces with undulating topography to beautiful and cohesive entertainment areas at every turn.

We installed a wider paver walkway, added a Bevelo handcrafted antiqued gas lantern, numerous LED lights that splashed against the stone and stucco to create an inviting side entry.

The macadam driveway was unattractive. Decorative pavers were added to the center of the driveway to break up the macadam and expand the now welcoming front walkway and entrance.

All of the retaining walls around the pool and spa area are footed masonry walls with full profile hand chiseled stone to match the deck’s stone structure and existing stone on the house. The goal behind this stonework was to keep consistent materials throughout the whole project, giving the feeling that everything was built all at the same time.

The landscaping for this project needed to provide privacy from the street and create year-round interest. A variety of plantings were hand selected to display a lush green element to balance out the hardscapes.

The client wanted enough space for an activities pool as well as entertaining space. The gunite concrete swimming pool is complete with full spectrum under water LED lights so the fun doesn't have to stop when the sun goes down.

Resting to the side of the pool is the pool house which was constructed to look like the existing house with matching shingles and stucco finish. The custom fire features to the side of the pool house fence add a beautiful charm along with the surrounding landscaping and landscape lighting.

The homeowners needed more room for storage so we added an under deck storage space complete with inverted roof system to keep their items dry. No outdoor space is complete without warm LED lighting. We incorporated them on the stairs, planters and even in the pergola to shine down like stars, lending a carefree al fresco feel.

The grade-level custom fire features are constructed out of full masonry with a brownstone cap. These fire features, located on the side of the pool create a harmonious natural balance with the surrounding rock, fire and water.

Directly behind the custom gunite pool is a built-in gunite spa to match. Three sheer descent water features spill into the spa to create an aesthetic touch, as well as a therapeutic element for sore shoulders.

The built-in spa is surrounded by ground-level Cumaru decking, which is the same material used to construct the deck itself. The spa and the three sheer descent water features are completed with LED lighting. Auto covers were installed for the pool and spa to minimize the maintenance when not in use.

I am the Founder of MasterPLAN Landscape Design, a forward-thinking Outdoor Living Design-Build Firm located in eastern Pennsylvania. As Lead Designer, I custom-tailor each design to serve my clients and their families best, marrying beauty and function within each space. While each project is unique, I do believe that each space should share cohesiveness, simple and clean solutions along with spacial efficiency and the ideology that less is actually more. I believe that subscribing to a curvilinear design style, blending the hard structural lines of the home with the randomness of nature, creates outdoor living spaces that are exclusive yet timeless.
