Custom built in 2012, an inspired modern home designed to take full advantage of its dramatic setting. The design vocabulary is spare and reserved, with details thoroughly considered. Redwood clad rooflines playfully intersect, giving an indication of the thoughtful spaces sheltered beneath. Enter to a vast great room, with 10’ ceilings and sliding walls of glass directed at expansive ocean and canyon views. A wall of stonework anchors the room, and delineates public and private spaces. Honed concrete floors, rich Redwood tongue & groove ceilings, and cleverly placed skylights are found throughout. In the kitchen: a wall of fine Walnut hides appliances and storage, and a Quartzite countertop creates a generous workspace and island of seating. Both Master and Guest bathrooms utilize concrete sinks, Carrara marble tile, and Cifial fixtures. Floor to ceiling glass and spacious covered patios combine with an expertly planned interior space to make for a home that lives much larger than its measurements would indicate. A sculptural steel and concrete exterior staircase leads to a rooftop deck and panoramic views. It is not common to see this level of design and construction in this range of price. Situated on an elevated corner lot of a calm cul-de-sac, and less than a mile and a half from the ocean in the idyllic coastal community of San Clemente.
