Exterior, Apartment Building Type, Brick Siding Material, and Stone Siding Material Steeped in history, the building was constructed in 1888-1889 for the Children's Aid Society, and designed by the firm of Vaux & Radford. It remains to this day one of the most striking examples of Victorian Gothic architecture in all of New York. Adorned with carved stone, terra cotta and pressed Philadelphia brick, the building was converted to co-op in 1972 and later designated a New York City Landmark in 1977.
