From Juan de Mayoralgo

myhomeinporto is a small guesthouse with three bedrooms in the city center of Porto.

The house was built in the 30’s and it has a gorgeous green tiled facade and a garden in the backyard. The floors keep the original wood and the ceilings are more than 3 meters high.
We tried to maintain the history of the house through its original features: woodwork, frames, cast-iron radiators…

On the lower floor there’s one bedroom, the dinning-room, the office and the kitchen, the latter with direct access to the garden. On the upper floor there are two more bedrooms. On the basement we’ve done a home library.

My love story with Porto began when I first visited this city. Since the first time I felt at home.
I don’t know if it is because of its buildings full of tiles and bright coloured windows, or the scent of the river and the sea nearby or maybe because of the sound of the seagulls flying by.

It may be the memories of my dear mom and grandmother in the gardens full of camelias, rhododendrons and magnolias.

Or… who knows, it may comes from the warmness and kindness of its people; or from the granite which has always been present in my life both in Extremadura and Brittany, my two homelands.

And I’m pretty sure that the great wines also have a lot to do with it!

No matter what it is, I am sure you will also find your own reasons to fall for this city and to feel at home in Porto at yourhomeinoporto.

Breakfasts and dinners will be served in the garden, weather allowing. When the rain shows up we will enjoy them in the cosy dinning-room.
We will have fresh and local products: Avintes dark corn bread, freshly baked bread, Portuguese cheeses, home-made cakes, assorted seasonal fruit (in juice or prepared) allways adapting to what’s in season and available in the daily market. If you have some kind of allergy or intollerance, please let us know so we can adjust it to your needs. Breakfast is served from 09h00 to 12h00 but if you need it earlier just let us know in advance so we can organize it and you won’t leave the house without having your breakfast!

Once in a while we will have on house dinners prepared by some of our cook friends. And if you love cooking and you have the confidence to do it, make us a proposal and we’ll be happy to share the kitchen with you!
