The project site is approximately 1 acre parcel that required lifting home up from natural grade to provide views and accommodate drainage. Building pad was restricted in size by natural rock outcroppings and native vegetation.
Metaphor was for home to be low horizontal “ship” in the desert that rides above the existing vegetation and site features to allow existing native plant features and rock outcroppings to remain as visual features that contrast with manmade golf course views. Interior space flows to Exterior Space by use of extensive door systems located at front and back of house. House form is purposely simple to contrast with the texture of the rugged site.
