This corner building combined two apartments and a commercial space. The assignment was to merge those apartments into a coherent whole. The existing layout of both apartments was completely revised. Important points were the transformation from cell structure to open space and to improve the internal routing between floors, using subdued colors and materials.
The apartment compromises a total of five levels: the entrance, basement (study room), two living areas and bedroom floors. Through the elevator, the floor on the first floor is reached, where the American walnut central element connects and forms the whole space. Color and shape are subtly present.
To achieve a unity through all levels, almost all parts are custom made: cabinets, doors, door handles, stairs and part of the furniture are designed to form a coherent entity.
