As the first eco-designer to participate in the renowned Kips Bay Decorator Show House, Cheryl Terrace created a remarkable “living” wall of greenery. The refreshing burst of oxygen that emanated from the live plants made many visitors ask if an air purifier was hidden inside. “Plants are air purifiers,” Terrace informed them with a smile. Her good-natured demeanor and casual attitude puts people at ease. “Information and awareness are the most important parts of my design,” she explains. Once people learn the benefits of living green, they often couldn’t imagine living any other way. She herself is a yoga addict and a self-described “nature freak” but the houses she designs are the essence of elegant, luxurious living. If anyone has found a way to balance concern for the environment with concentration on the finer things in life, it is Terrace.
