Project Description:
The clients for this duplex project were a family of five, a couple with 3 small children.
Their desire was to stay in their neighborhood on the outskirts of Tel Aviv while purchasing an apartment that would fully fit their needs.

The main challenge\ goal was to accommodate a living room, dining area, kitchen, storage, and full staircase in only 45m2. What made this exceptionally challenging was the absence of walls to latch on to, and the desire for minimum furniture and “dangerous corners” that children may encounter.

The design concept creates two pillars on opposites sides of the space.
The first: an open full-length kitchen fully equipped for daily cooking and baking without compromising storage or functionality. The second: a custom-made floor to ceiling carpentry box made to house a TV and all other electric needs. The box, cladded with metal sheet is connected to the stairs, a metal railing, and closet space to utilize the space beneath the stairs to the fullest.
Between the two pillars are the dining area and living area, completely open and allowing for maximum daily flow for 5 people.
Echoes of the concept can be found in the custom-made carpentry and details throughout the house. An example is the rounded entrance carpentry which is child-proof in its form and brings a solution to an entrance console, storage, laundry, a service closet, and AC ducts all the while preserving the clean lines of the design concept.
